We wanted to show how it feels to get caught up in past memories that stop someone from moving forward in their life. At the time ‘Ready to Run’ was written, we were staying in a house in California that brought back a lot of happy memories for Esmay but she was no longer together with the person she had been in a relationship with there and it was time for her to move on. But it wasn’t just the surroundings that needed to change, it was her state of mind and often, it is ourselves who hold the key to open the lock and set ourselves free from negative situations.
